About the Design
The winning design concept used for the 2011 Leopard Trek team kit was, simplicity. The colour palette was black, white and an ice blue.
The design consisted of a black upper shoulder area, an ice blue stripe across the middle chest and a white lower torso area. Thin white bands were added to the sleeve ends and a small ice blue cover was added to the top of the zip. To give interesting subtle design details.
To this concept, logos were added to the black shoulder and upper chest section being rendered in white. Even with the sponsors names and logos, this section still looked "clean". The rear of the jersey had sponsors logos rendered in black on white or white on black. The rear of the jersey was kept clean from logos. The logos used were kept small and subtle in the top and bottom left and right sides. A small logo was also on the back of the neck of the jersey. The minimal use of the ice blue colour means that it really stands out when used against the black and white canvas.
The minimal use of the ice blue colour was continued in the bibshorts with ice blue bands on the leg ends and ice blue thread used for the stitching on the bibshorts. Sponsors names were rendered in white on the black bibshorts. The ice blue coloured thread was again used in the arm warmers and leg warmers giving a subtle design detail to the kit.
To denote the Luxembourg champion the main jersey had its ice blue stripe substituted with 3 thinner stripes of red, white then light blue.
The simple and minimal design and minimal use of colour gave the team a surprisingly strong look and brand identity that worked extremely well. The kit looked classic but at the same time, very polished and elegant.
