The Nufenenpass is one of the iconic giant climbs in Switzerland. The gradient gets up to 12% and there are large sections on the climb that are 7 to 10%. There are around 12 sections of the climb where the gradient is over 10%. The combination of the constant high gradient, the Nufenen pass being the highest peak in Switzerland and the distance make this ascent super challenging.
There are exposed sections on the climb which can be very windy so appropriate clothing for all conditions is recommended.
The snow covered peaks all around while you climb provide stunning vistas to accompany your efforts.
Ex Swiss pro Fabian Cancellara holds the opinion that the Nufenenpass is the hardest climb in Switzerland.
