About the Design
In 1990 the Z Tommaso kit certainly stood out. With the advent of sublimation printing on fabrics, designers had no limits as to what the design could be and this style of printing was used to great effect in this case. The main sponsor of the team was Z vetements, a children's clothing manufacturer. The logo was a cartoon Z with a yellow background and a puff of smoke cloud. This logo dominated the teams kit on the front, back and shoulders with striking effect.
The colour palette for the kit was dark blue, light blue, pink, yellow, white and black. The jersey had pink bands around the collar and sleeve ends while the main sponsors' name was rendered in white. The torso of the jersey was a dark blue shoulder fading to a lighter blue shade at the bottom of the jersey.
The bibshorts were black based but had blue panels on the sides with the Z logo reproduced a little smaller on each side. On one side the word vetements (French for clothing) was rendered in white and on the other side enfants (French for children) was also rendered in white. This was also the case on the jersey but with the words rendered in black instead. The gloves had the Z logo reproduced on top of the lighter blue shade colour.
The team won the Tour de France in 1990 with Greg Lemond taking 1st place in the General Classification. This was Greg's third Tour de France victory.
