BAHRAIN - MCLAREN 2020

About the Design

For the 2020 season Bahrain Merida became Bahrain McLaren. With a change of main sponsor came a change to the design and colour palette. The colour palette consists of red, orange, black and a light shade of blue. The new orange and blue colours come courtesy of McLaren. The kit manufacturer changed from Sportful to LeCol.

The design employs diagonal sections of colour starting with red, then an orange gradient of dark to lighter orange with a black diagonal section on the bottom of the jersey. The sleeve ends support a light blue band which really contrasts sharply to the red and orange to great effect. A series of fine repeating lines are used on various sections to further blend the various sections of colour together. The sponsors names are rendered in black with Bahrain and McLaren taking primary position on the chest while Merida is rendered on the sleeves. A new Bahrain Merida logo made up of three triangles is rendered on the left chest and between the shoulders. Richard Mille, the Swiss watchmaker, is the only sponsor rendered in white and positioned on the blue sleeve bands.

The bibshorts are black with sponsors rendered in white. The black diagonal panel on the jersey seamlessly marries up with the black bibshorts to give a very polished and sleek look to the kit. The socks are blue which really pops against the red/orange main colours. This provides an excellent visual contrast where the light blue is used sparingly.

Merida have carried the colour palette and design over to the bike to great effect with nice subtle touches of blue on the inside of the forks and tubes. All in all an excellent kit.
