About the Design

In 2017 the Tour Down Under had three classification jerseys and three special edition jerseys dedicated to three different stages that were supplied by Santini. For this 19th edition of the race the classification jerseys were ochre race leader, King of the mountains blue polka dot and red sprinter jersey.

The orange coloured race leader jersey supported the Santos, Adelaide and Santini names in white while the Santos logo was rendered in light blue on the side of the jersey. The polka dot jersey is once again white based with polka dots of dark blue. The Subaru sponsors name is rendered on the back shoulder area of the jersey. The sprinter's red jersey has the iinet logo and name rendered on the lower front and back of the jersey.

The three special stage jerseys are Glenelg light blue, Adelaide green and Mclaren Vale red. Each jersey had a coloured section either on the upper or lower half of the jersey while a black section composed the other half. The Glenelg jeresy is the exception with the light blue coloured section on the bottom half and a white upper section. THe middle of the jersey has TDU, upside down, representing the Tour Down Under race while a circular cut out section with SA represents South Australia.

The Adelaide jersey is green to respresent the hills in the area. The A motif on the back of the neck is augmented with 6 cogs reproducing the commonwealth star constelation on the Australian flag. The Glenelg jersey has a nod to national monument gum trees with the date of the proclamtion declaring South Australia a province below it. The McLaren Vale jersey has a wine bottle repeating pattern as a nod to the wine producing region of South Australia where the race takes place.
