About the Mountain
Jebel Jais is the tallest mountain in the United Arab Emirates. Jebel Jais is situated in the Hajar mountains.
The fantastic road hairpins its way up the mountain offering spectacular views. Near the summit there are food providers, parking, toilets and a viewing platform, offering stunning views of the Ras Al Khaimah landscape. Jebel Jais is almost 2000m making it on par with some of the peaks in the Alps and Pyrenees.
Ras Al Khaimah is home to a diverse range of bird life. The Wadis (Arabic term referring to valleys) and mountains in the area are home to wheatears, partridges, warblers, falcons and vultures.
The temperatures in the area can be extremely hot in the Summer months so it is advisable to ensure you have plenty of water and to stay hydrated. The temperatures near the summit of Jebel Jais can be as much as 10 degrees lower than other parts of the United Arab Emirates.
