Les Praeres is a climb located in the Asturias in Spain, part of the Peñamayor mountains. The climb is short at only around 4km long but it is very hard and steep with an average gradient of around 12.5% and a maximum gradient of 23%.
Les Praeres was used as the summit finish on stage 14, Cistierna to Les Praeres, of the 2018 Vuelta a Espana on 08/09/2018. This was the first time the climb was used in the Vuelta a Espana.
On the climb of Les Praeres Simon Yates of Mitchelton Scott resisted an early attack by Quintana, closer to the bottom of the climb. Simon Yates attacked himself nearer the summit and managed to ride away to win the stage and eventually win the Vuelta overall.
